Fabrice Flückiger, PhD

Historian, editor, book lover, crocodile friend and whisky enthusiast

About

I am currently head editor at Schwabe Verlag in Basel, where I am in charge of the history editorial programme.

After studying History and German Medieval Literature in Geneva and Paris, I graduated from the University of Neuchâtel in 2016 and was a postdoctoral fellow there until 2019. I also worked at the universities of Paris Cité, Luzern, Bern and at the Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität München.

My ongoing research as an associate member of the Institute of History at the University of Bern focuses on representations of Good Governement in Swiss and German cities in the 16th century. I also worked on the political aspects of religious disputations in the Old Swiss Confederacy and on the "Atlas Marianus" of Wilhem Gumppenberg SJ as an example of Jesuite science.

I love books in all forms, I have a soft spot for crocodiles and I am always ready to enjoy a fine whisky in good company.
